A Meditation on Autumn

A Meditation on Autumn
Quietly,
There was silence in the middle of the night.
Silently,
I heard the sound of fallen leaves blown by the autumn wind.
Yellow leaves fell to the ground
Waiting for the spring mud to melt away after the harsh winter.
A cool breeze was blowing.
Lonely and cold fragrance and again lonely and cold fragrance and
Inexplicable bursts of sadness
Traversed through loneliness and in the poetry I was reciting,
All reflecting solitary light and shadow.
I recited poems late at night and felt melancholy.
The clouds were clear and the wind was gentle; the garden was full of sweet-scented osmanthus.
The autumn breeze was cool all during the season; in a blink of an eye, it was late autumn again.
The maple leaves had turned red again.
Another season of autumn had fallen quietly.
